Before becoming president of this Rupp family business in 1995, I worked every job in the agency. I was involved in the early years of Trusted Choice and sat on that national board, have been active in our state insurance association and various nonprofits, where I began finding creative ways of managing staff and embracing continuous quality as a competitive advantage.

I’m very active in our local sustainability and land-use community, and do a lot of public speaking on sustainability and new ways to look at work. I am proud we are a certified B Corp, a multi-year Alfred P. Sloan award winner for workplace flexibility, a mayor’s small-business award winner and make various “best place to work” lists. We have been featured in the Seattle Times, A.M. Best’s Review and were named a Trusted Choice Agency of the Month, nationally. I am continually challenged to create a good customer experience while managing all of the variables in this changing world. I never give up!

I’m an insurance agent who is part of a robust, interactive team that looks at current trends in insurance and risk to devise creative solutions for our customers. We take pride that both our company and our clients are served in a sustainable fashion. When I’m not a part of our great work team, I love hanging out with family and friends. In addition, I enjoy the outdoors, tennis, and look forward to even playing a little golf! I especially love challenges that take me to the next level and am grateful to have a job where education, self-growth, and a healthy mind are well supported. I’ve worn many hats in my life, and insurance has to be one my favorite because it enables me to continue to set goals for my mind and body. Of course, I very much love my family and friends. I also appreciate being part of a community that is bigger than I because I believe in giving back. NRG is a great place to work, and I enjoy the healthy surrounding that it provides to its employees. It’s amazing how NRG supports education for their employees and clients. Outside work, I like being adventurous – for example, being one with the road on my Harley from my home base of Spokane. “Live, laugh, and love” is the motto I live by!

At NRG, I am proud to be a part of a team that always puts clients first and creatively problem solves. I’ve always been a learner and insurance has taught me so much about the bigger picture. I love giving back to people and my job enables me to assist our clients navigating through the giant world of insurance. NRG is not only a workplace but a lifestyle that I enjoy living. Outside work, you’ll find me fangirling over BTS, binge watching Netflix, or jumping on a plane to catch my next adventure.

We believe work should be a source of joy

That’s why we offer flexible work hours AND have been virtual for over a decade. We went remote to help our staff with family, help our planet with a few less cars on the road, and maybe ultimately would serve our clients in case we would all experience an event like an Earthquake. Who knew that event would be COVID? We have been digital nomads before we even knew it was a thing! We love our workplace and flexibility!

We’ve worked with the Mayo Clinic on movement at work, value joy at work and are grateful. That’s why we’ve received a spot on Washington’s Best Places to Work. That’s why we received the Sloan Award for Workplace Flexibility. And that’s why our experienced staff—who have plenty of other options—choose to stay here.

We believe in building local communities

That’s why we’ve taught classes on entrepreneurship for the College Success Foundation and several local high schools. That’s why we donate to Arts Fund. That’s why we’re members of the Seattle Good Business Network and a founding partner of Seattle Made. And that’s why we helped start both the Port of Seattle’s Working Wheels program and the Northgate Chamber. Our President was the Finance chair for the original Women’s march, and everyone worked overtime so that she could work full time for three months to make it happen!

We believe in preserving the environment

That’s why we run our business according to the principles of the Triple Bottom Line. That’s why we were the first brokerage in the U.S. to go carbon-neutral and why the EPA awarded us with the distinguished “Business in Green” award (now over 10 years ago!). That’s also why you’ll spot our fleet of electric Smart Cars around Seattle and our first Smart Car (2005!) tooling around Spokane!
